Great news for UK guitarists, Larrivée have announced that they are re-introducing the benchmark -02 series into the UK.
In recent years the most affordable Larrivées available in the UK have been the -03 series - a fantastic quality range of guitars no doubt - but there have been many calls for the no-frills -02 series to return. So we are very pleased to learn that it is indeed returning, in both Parlour and OM body sizes.
"The -02 Series is built in the same Californian factory as the rest of the highly acclaimed Larrivée Guitars product line. The all-solid wood construction features solid Canadian Sitka Spruce tops and solid African Sapele back and sides.
The impressive specifications of the -02 Series also includes a handfit dove-tail neck joint, Canadian Maple body binding, multi line rosette with Canadian maple, Ebony fingerboard, Ebony bridge, rounded Larrivee headstock with Ebony cap, chrome tuners (18:1 ratio) and traditional Larrivée tortoise style pickguard. The nut and saddle are bone.
Compared to previous 02 models, the reintroduced -02 Series has even higher-end features including Scalloped Parabollic Austrian Spruce top bracing and a one-piece mahogany neck."
We are particularily excited about the P-02, as the level of quality Larrivée are currently reaching for the money with this body size is incredible. We have got our hands on a brand new P-02 and it is indeed a stunning guitar for the money, with less frills than the -03 series but no let up in tone or build quality, it is easily the best all-solid properly made parlour guitar for under £1000 anywhere (and it comes with a hard case!).
